'Red Flags' Fringe

On September 9th, as a part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival- Watermelon Bathtub debuted "Red Flags."

 

This piece explored the dynamics of power in relationships. People told their experiences of a time when they were in a toxic situation and then perform their ultimate circus revenge act. The show was a combination of drama and comedy, with audience participation encouraged.

 

Our shows include themes of access to make the experience welcome to a wider audience.

'Bodies' Philly PACK

On December 17th 2022, Watermelon Bathtub showcased their award winning show 'Bodies.' The performance was hosted at the Philly PACK and featured two additional cast members with stories exploring motherhood and gender identity.

This was a cabaret style circus piece that explored the relationships people have with their body, with emphasis on reducing stigma by showing authentic, relatable, and tangible first person narratives that combined spoken word and circus movement. Thematic elements of access were used to broaden the way individual audience members connected to the work. 

'Bodies' Philly Fringe Festival

Thematic elements of access were used to broaden the way individual audience members connected to the work. 

On September 24th 2022, in conjunction with The Philadelphia Fringe Arts Festival and Circus Campus Presents, Watermelon Bathtub developed the award winning show 'Bodies,' with the premiere on September 24th, 2022. Ticket sales grossed over $2,000, first show sold out, and second show was close behind it. 

Bodies won the Circus Fringie, a viewers choice award, for Week 3 and won Overall Best Circus Show for the 2022 Fringe Arts Festival with 17 shows in the same category.
